COOKIES
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by websites you visit. Cookies are then sent back to the website on each subsequent visit, or to another web page that recognises the cookie. Cookies are used to make a website work, to make it more efficient, and to provide information to the website owners. This information can be used to provide a more personalised and responsive service and therefore make our website easier to use.
Cookies may be first-party cookies placed directly on your device by us, or third-party cookies placed by a third-party provider on our behalf. Whenever you use this website, information may be collected through cookies and other technologies.
Cookies and technologies we use
We group the cookies and similar technologies on this site into four categories:
- “Strictly necessary”: required for the site to work — remembering your language, returning securely from a payment, remembering your tracker choices. They cannot be switched off.
- “Functional”: your browser keeps your form drafts and basket locally (local storage). This data stays on your device and is never sent to any third party.
- “Audience measurement” (only with your consent): Umami Cloud, for page views and concise business events.
- “Marketing” (only with your consent): the Meta and LinkedIn pixels described below.
Refusing optional trackers does not block any service feature.
How long do cookies remain on my device?
How long a cookie remains on your device depends on whether it is a persistent cookie or a session cookie.
A persistent cookie is stored by your web browser and remains valid until its specified expiry date, unless you delete it before then. The next time you visit our website, the cookie recognises you as a returning visitor and enables us to present the website according to your preferences.
A session cookie contains information used during your current browsing session and expires at the end of that session, when you close your web browser.
Overview of cookies and technologies used
Inventory of cookies and similar technologies actually used:
- NEXT_LOCALE — first-party cookie; remembers the language; 1 year; strictly necessary.
- mp_checkout — first-party cookie; secures the return from the payment page; payment-session duration; strictly necessary.
- metropolis.tracker-consent — first-party local storage; stores your Analytics and Marketing choices (version, purposes, dates); 183 days; strictly necessary to apply your decision.
- Form drafts and basket — first-party local storage; stay on your device; functional.
- Umami Cloud (Umami Software, Inc.) — network request to cloud.umami.is after “Audience measurement” consent. Page views and business events, without persistent cookies in our configuration (data-do-not-track, data-exclude-search, data-domains=metropolis.info). The provider is Umami Software, Inc. (United States) and publishes a DPA (umami.is/dpa). The Cloud account is in the Europe region. The script loads from cloud.umami.is; collection goes to gateway.umami.is. Umami-side retention: 6 months (Hobby plan, umami.is/pricing).
- _fbp — Meta cookie; campaign measurement and advertising personalisation; about 3 months; only after Marketing consent.
- bcookie — LinkedIn cookie; browser identifier; 1 year; only after Marketing consent.

- _gcl_au — Google Ads cookie; links a clicked ad to a conversion; about 90 days; only after Marketing consent.
- LinkedIn storage (localStorage / sessionStorage, including conversion identifiers such as li_fat_id) — written by the Insight Tag after Marketing consent; session, or until the identifier expires (li_fat_id: about 30 days).
- YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com domain) — video player in privacy-enhanced mode; loaded only after you click play on the video; YouTube (Google) may then write to that domain’s local storage.
How can I control cookies?
A compact banner asks for your agreement on the first visit. No optional tracker (Umami, Meta, LinkedIn) loads before a matching positive decision. “Reject all” and “Accept all” have equal weight; “Customise” lets you choose audience measurement, marketing, both or neither.
You can change your choice at any time via “Change my preferences” on this page. Reducing a grant already given stops later calls; the page reloads only when a script already running has to be unloaded.
A refusal does not affect the service. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Deleting strictly necessary cookies may affect how the site works.
Changes to this cookie notice
We may change or amend this cookie notice from time to time at our discretion. When we make changes, we will update the revision date at the top of this page. The amended cookie notice will apply to you and your information from that revision date.
We encourage you to review this cookie notice regularly to stay informed about how we use cookies.
Questions

Audience measurement and marketing pixels
Umami Cloud is used for audience measurement (page views and business events without free text, client identifiers, addresses, tokens or URL parameters). Data is sent to the Cloud account in the Europe region (script cloud.umami.is, collection gateway.umami.is) after your “Audience measurement” agreement.
With your “Marketing” agreement, we load the Meta pixel, the LinkedIn Insight Tag and the Google Ads tag on public pages. They set cookies including _fbp, bcookie, li_gc, lidc, __cf_bm and _gcl_au, and may write to local or session storage, to measure our campaigns and personalise ads. A Google Ads conversion event is sent when the basket is submitted, only if the tag has been loaded.
These trackers never load before the matching agreement, and never on case-tracking or payment pages. Necessary technologies stay on, without a misleading toggle.
